How much does a session cost?
I believe great photography should be accessible, which is why I keep my pricing simple and upfront. Portrait sessions begin at $200, Equine sessions begin at $300, and Brand Identity Photography packages begin at $319. All sessions include a full image download with print release and you’ll receive access to your online gallery sneak peek within 48 hours.
How do I book a session, and how far in advance should I book?
Booking is easy! Simply fill out the contact form and I'll reach out within 24 hours to talk through your vision and lock in a date. I recommend booking 2-4 weeks ahead when possible, especially during busier seasons, but don't hesitate to reach out if you're working with a tighter timeline. I'll always do my best to accommodate you.
Is a deposit required to secure my date?
Yes, a non-refundable retainer is required to reserve your session date and time. Once it's paid, your spot is exclusively yours. I'll walk you through the details when we chat about booking.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept credit cards, cash, or check for your convenience. Full payment details are shared once your session is booked.
How long does a session take?
Most sessions run about 45 minutes, giving us plenty of time to move through locations, outfit changes, and settle into a natural rhythm together — no need to rush a single moment.
How many images will I receive, and when?
You'll receive your gallery sneak peek within 48 hours of your session and all images ready to download and print as you'd like within 4 weeks. Depending on the collection and session length, you’ll receive approximately 20 images fully edited and processed to jpg.
How long will my online gallery remain available?
All galleries remain active for 30 days from the date that all images from your session are made available. I want you to have plenty of time to browse, download your favorites, and place any print orders from your gallery. The 30 days timing is simply a cloud storage housekeeping thing. I always keep your images safely backed up on my personal hard drives, so your photos are never truly gone. If you ever need access to your images down the road — whether it's six months or two years from now — just reach out and I'll be happy to help!
Can I share my digital images on social media?
Absolutely! Every session comes with a print release, so you're free to share, print, and cherish your images however you'd like. If you do share online, I'd so appreciate a tag or credit to Carole Gabrielson Photography. It's one of the best ways to help my small business grow, and I love seeing your photos out in the world!
What happens if it rains or the weather doesn't cooperate?
Virginia weather can be unpredictable, but don't worry, I photograph rain or shine. However, if conditions aren't ideal for your outdoor session, we'll simply reschedule for the next available date. Your memories are worth the wait for the right light.
Do you travel outside the Roanoke area?
Yes! I love traveling to capture your session wherever feels right! While I'm based in Roanoke, VA, I proudly serve clients throughout Virginia, including Lexington, Northern Virginia, Tidewater, Charlottesville, and Richmond. For locations an hour or more outside of Roanoke, a travel fee of $0.70/mile applies to help cover the extra distance.
What should I expect during an equine session?
Equine sessions are all about capturing the genuine bond between horse and rider, so we'll take things at a calm, unhurried pace. Whether we're ringside for a jump round or capturing quiet moments in the barn, I'll work around you and your horse's comfort to create authentic, beautiful images. Do you photograph teams or groups for small businesses, or just individual headshots?
Both! Whether you need individual headshots, group/team photos, or full brand storytelling images for your business, I'll tailor the session to fit your needs and your brand's personality.
Do you offer mini sessions or seasonal specials?
From time to time, yes! Keep an eye on my Facebook and Instagram accounts for seasonal mini session announcements throughout the year.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! Gift certificates make a wonderful gift for the people in your life who deserve to be photographed too. Reach out and I'll get one set up for you.
Can I customize a collection package?
Absolutely! I am always happy to adapt a session to better suit your needs and vision. Just let me know what you need and we’ll work together to ensure that your vision and expectations are met.
What should I wear for the photo session?
Great question! I always tell clients: wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable — that's what shines through in your photos. A couple of tips to keep in mind: solid colors and soft patterns tend to photograph better than busy prints or small patterns, and coordinating (not matching) with your group creates a nice, cohesive look. Most of all, choose something you can move and relax in. Comfort really does translate into more natural, genuine photos!
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Plans change, and that's okay! You're welcome to reschedule your session up to 2 times, no questions asked. Please note that retainers are non-refundable, as they hold your date exclusively and go toward the time and preparation that goes into your session. (Mini-sessions and seasonal specials may follow a slightly different policy. Please feel free to ask for details!)
